Child Safety Scissors by Melissa and Doug

I saw the Melissa & Doug Child-Safe Plastic Scissor Set the other day and decided to by them for my 2.5 and 3.5 year old.  My oldest has really wanted to start using scissors, but I have been hesitant since I knew my youngest would want to use them as well.

These Melissa and Doug Child-Safe scissors claimed that they don’t cut hair or cloth! That was the selling point for me, so I had to try them.  Also, the red ones are the zigzag shape which were added fun.

Well, I am here to tell you that they cut paper, but really do not cut hair or fabric.  (I tested them on my own hair, my t-shirt,  and an old towel).  So, these safety scissors are perfect if you are trying to teach your child how to use scissors and you won’t have to worry about them hurting themselves.

Best of all, these scissors are only $2.99 for both the zigzag and the straight cut!   Now only if my friend had these when her 6 year old daughter and her friends were playing salon…
