Does Mavala Stop Really Stop Thumb Sucking?

YES!!! It did for my son!

I was skeptical about this product, Mavala Stop,  that I found at online at Amazon, but I hadn’t had anyone in my group of friends be successful with ending the thumb sucking.  I knew it was time because his teeth started pointing outward a little and our speech therapist said that it would help his speech progress if his thumb wasn’t in his mouth.

So, we (my husband and I) decided that we would work on the thumb sucking once he turned 3.  Our pediatrician said to not make a big deal about it with books and such, just put something on it and end it.

I tried Aloe (all natural) first, but it didn’t work, so I decided that I would try the Mavala Stop stuff I ordered, even though its main ingredient is Ethyl Acetate.

We had been telling my son that once he turned 3, his thumb would start tasting yucky (A little white lie).  So, we had kind of prepared him for this.

I had my husband tickle my son with his head turned away from the thumb he sucks and I put the polish on without him knowing.  When he put his thumb in his mouth he made fun expressions and kept saying yucky.  I did see him try to suck his thumb a little, but it wasn’t successful.

Even though the bottle said that it only needed to be applied once every 2 days, we put it on again before bed and again the next day.  He has been thumb free for 2.5 days!  I am so proud of him.

He did have a little trouble sleeping the first night, but he has done really well since.  I don’t know how long it takes to break a habit, but we will continue for at least a week.

It was nice to put it on him without him knowing and for it to be so easy and stress free!  I honestly can’t believe how easy this was.  We really didn’t expect it to work, we just hoped that it would.

I highly recommend this product for anyone and everyone who wants to end thumb sucking!
