New iPhone Cry Translator Application for Moms
Having a newborn can be filled with joys and frustrations at the same time. It is so hard to know what your baby needs or wants at all times. Well, now there is new iPhone application that helps you decipher the cries of your baby.
The Cry Translator is supposed to help moms identify if their baby is hungry, tired, annoyed, stressed, or bored so that they can help soothe the baby. Apparently you put your iPhone next to your crying baby and press start. The Cry Translator will translate the cry within 10 seconds. If there is a lot of background noise, then you will probably get an error message.
I don’t have an infant so I will not be downloading this application. I doubt it will decipher the needs of a toddler’s whine.
The application is currently $9.99 in Apple’s app store, and according to CryTranslator.com, it will jump to $29.99 after Nov. 11. The price is steep for me for an application. However, if I were in a state of exhaustion with a newborn, I might be willing to shell out the money.
By the way, if don’t want to shell out the money for the Cry Translator application, you could try renting the Dunstan Baby Language DVDs from your local library. Priscilla Dunstan was featured on Oprah a few years back for her hypothesis on the five sounds of newborns. You can actually watch this Oprah video segment here.
Have you tried or will be trying the Cry Translator application?

Interesting app! I don’t have any babies, but I wonder if it really works. Also, when my kids were babies, I don’t remember ever wondering what their cries meant. After a short while of being around a newborn, it becomes very obvious why they are crying.
