Took a Time Out for the MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) Convention

Over the weekend I attended a MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) Convention in Nashville, TN.  I had lots of fun bonding with friends that went along for the ride and learning new ideas to implement with my mothering and family.

I appreciate my husband for being so willing to watch our children so that I could get away and be refreshed with new ideas.   I know that I missed them while I was away, but they did survive and the house was still in one piece.

This year I am a co-coordinator for one of the local MOPS chapters and I have enjoyed being more involved in the planning process.  I attended several sessions at the convention so I will write posts about some of the notes I took as well as some of the new products I found at the vendors exhibit hall.

MOPS is an international organization that tries to meet the needs of mothers of children from infancy through the kindergarten years.  They have even created a MOMS Next that is for school-aged children.

Depending on the chapter, MOPS usually meets one or two times a month and it is a place for moms to make friends, laugh together, share experiences, and receive understanding and gentle encouragement.  Usually the groups are run by other mothers of preschoolers and they help coordinate outreach projects, playdates, fundraisers, and Mom’s Night Out events.

I encourage you to see if there is a local MOPS chapter near you if you are a mother of little ones or have a baby.  Even if you work outside the home, many chapters have a night meeting so that those mothers can connect with one another as well.
