Easy to Make Cinnamon Ornaments

The Final Product - not bad from a 2 & 3 year old
I love the smell of cinnamon at this time of year and Applesauce Cinnamon Ornaments are so easy to make and give the house a great smell. Applesauce Ornaments are fun to make with kids because there is only 2 ingredients and you get to use cookie cutter shapes!
Applesauce Cinnamon Ornaments
Ingredients: Equal parts of cinnamon and applesauce (I used 1 cup of each and it made about 14 ornaments.)

Directions: Stir the applesauce and cinnamon together until well mixed. Form into a ball onto wax paper and flatten. Use cookie cutters to make shapes. Use a straw to make a hole in the ornament to put a string through for hanging after they harden.

It will take 36-48 hours for your ornaments to fully harden and dry out. Make sure that you flip them over a few times a day so that they can harden evenly. The ornaments are pretty as they are, but you paint, glitter paint, or decorate the ornaments after they dry.

We included the ornaments this year with some of our gifts to teachers and family. The children have enjoyed choosing which ornaments to give to whom and they are good about telling the receiver that you can’t eat them. (My kids really wanted them to be cookies.)
The ornaments will keep for next year as long as they don’t break in storage!
Note: There are several recipes for applesauce ornaments and some call for a little Elmer’s glue. I chose not to use the glue since I knew my kids would eat the dough and they still came out great.
