Kmart Offers Assistance to Unemployed Customers

Unemployment has been on the rise and many have been effected by the economy and the job market. Some are struggling to make ends meet and provide for their families.  Kmart is stepping up by helping those who are unemployed by offering additional savings.

Kmart has started a program called the Kmart Smart Assist Savings Program to help customers who are unemployed and receiving unemployment benefits. Kmart customers who present state-issued identification (driver’s license or ID card) and a state-issued unemployment benefits enrollment confirmation are eligible to participate in the Smart Assist program.

Eligible customers can complete the registration online,  print the Smart Assist card, and sign the back.  When used at checkout with identification, the Smart Assist card will give customers 20% off Kmart’s own brand grocery and drugstore items.  The cards will be issued through January 2010 and will be good for up to six months.

Please pass this information along to those you know who are unemployed and would qualify.

A nice gesture since so many people’s unemployments benefits run out after awhile.

It’s SO nice to see a company actually step up to the plate and try and help the people and the economy instead of just trying to still make tons of money themselves. K-Mart still has layaway also doesn’t it? Wal-Mart should take some NOTES!
